The accumulation of snow on your roof for a long time may dampen the surface of the roof to a large extent. In case of tile roofs, the water seeps into the inner structure of the house and leads to potential water molds and leaks.

Such problems are often faced by the households located in higher altitudes. Since such locations are subjected to constant snowfall, the inspection work of the roof turns into quite a daunting task.

Before the commencement of your project, make sure that you possess the right blend of essential supplies with you. Arrange a first-aid kit to prepare yourself against any accident during the course of the task. The first-aid box would essentially comprise of an eye-rinse solution and two rolls of adhesive bandages.

Make way for a specialized tool that would actually do the job of cleaning off snow from your roof. There are a number of snow rakes that are available in the market nowadays. The most effective of them all is an extended snow rake. Due to it's mode of operation and easy handling, it is accepted by a lot many households.

It sweeps off the accumulated snow in such a way that the mounds of the snow fall on each other. The resulting heap comes crashing down from the roof and almost renders a clean area to your roof. The snow on the ground is thereafter removed with the help of a typical snow rake.

Though it is much easier to wipe off snow from the angled roofs but it involves a certain degree of uncertainty as well. This is because the heaps or the mounds of snow that build up owing to the operation of rake, can easily lead to a damage to the roof setup or the affiliated components. In comparison to the angled roofs, the flat roofs are much safer to work with as the snow mounds are easily broken and raked down.

In order to climb up to the roof, use an extension ladder and make sure that you tie yourself to a rope. This would prevent yourself from potential accidents that could result in a damage to your limbs or arms.

If however the roof is a wet or saturated one then don't stand on it and instead, avail the services of an expert roofer.
