By Cody Scholberg

Teeth-whitening is nothing new to human history. It goes far back in the story of mankind. You can naturally assume that having a bright smile has been a priority for anyone who smiles. If you do not clean your teeth regularly, they will pay the price. Today we have many methods they can help you to get a bright smile. In the past, they had the same objectives but cruder methods. There are many products that people use to white and their teeth such as:

Using aged urine Using baking soda Using special species of twigs Toothbrushes

From Toothbrushes To Teeth Whiteners

Toothbrushes as an invention go back over 5000 years. Of course, the current toothbrush that we use today was invented in China. Toothbrushes have been used for over 5000 years. Before that, people used a special kind of twig. Certain species of trees have anti septic qualities. The twigs were frayed and used to brush the teeth. The effects are very similar to a toothbrush. This is still a popular method used in most of the Middle East and Africa. It is considered healthier than using a toothbrush. The chemicals in the twigs contain whitening properties.

How Germs Changed Everything

Anyone who studies European history is aware that germs were simply not part of the European culture equation. Some would even say that Europeans were very dirty and unhygienic. However, once microscopes were introduced, all of this change dramatically. People who were once living in microbes on a regular basis suddenly became very upset with them. Europeans now wanted to get rid of any microbe that they could find. For example, ideas about toothbrushes or reestablished. However, they were still limited in their anti septic properties. There was also a resurgence at this time of teeth-whitening products.

Introduction Of Tooth Abrasives

Plastic started to be developed after the discovery of crude oil in the Middle East in'08. Along with using this for gasoline, there was also the development of plastics. Toothbrushes were no longer made with animal hair and bone or wood. They were now being made from nylon. However, these were not the soft bristles that we know today. These were very hard and would often make the guns bleed. It would take almost 20 years before a softer product was developed. In the meantime, they were commonly used to apply teeth-whitening products to the teeth.
