How To Replace An Electrical Fuse ?

Fuses are electrical devices that are installed in an electric circuit so as to interrupt the exceeding current by creating an open circuit condition. These are meant to protect the expensive appliances from being burnt out by voltage surges.

Fuse prevents electrical circuit damage and if not possible to totally prevent , it minimizes the level of damage by limiting it to lowest level that is possible.

The current is interrupted when the elements which carry the current are melted by the heat generated by the current. When a condition of overload arrives, fuse blows off. This confirms the replacement of a new fuse so as to further protect the devices from any damage.

Replacing a fuse doesn't mean that you need to call an electrician, in fact you can yourself do the task without any much difficulty. Switching off the power supply is the first and foremost step that should be considered while replacing a fuse. Next, comes the task of removing the blown fuse and inserting the new one. While doing so, make sure that you are replacing it with that of similar rating.

Even if replacing a fuse is a very small job, there's still a potential to danger and yo must use caution. We must always take remember to care and to follow some simple rules. Don't go for replacing the fuse with wet hands. Make sure, your hands are not wet while doing the job. Secondly, replace the blown off fuse with a good one without touching the metal terminals or use proper tools like pliers and screwdriver etc.

Again and again blowing of the fuse even though no device is turned on indicates serious faults in the wiring. Therefore, its a time to in an electrician before the situation worsen.

Since, the fuse presents the most cost effective means for providing automatic high- voltage current protection against the single over current failure and so they are used in many electrical systems. Fuse is a very simple and highly reliable, low cost and compact device. Because of the above advantageous features, fuses have been and are used in wide variety of applications.

Fuses are employed in almost every electrical appliance so as to protect them against overload damages. Some very common areas of application of electrical fuse are motor bikes, ships and other vehicles. Moreover, fuses can provide for redundancy for the purpose of preventing reduction of yield of the semiconductor devices.
