A Few Types Of Nail Art Designs

By Ester A. Dwight

Nails have almost become an accessory to some people. They are able to be changed at the drop of a hat and you don't have to go to the salon to have it done. Some people prefer to create nail art designs on their own and this is easy to do. There are tons of polishes found in any color imaginable and little add-ons to provide flair to a freshly painted nail for any occasion or season.

There are hand-painted designs that are very easy to make. Flowers are simple to create with the brush that comes in the nail polish. These can be formed with one color for the petals and a contrasting color for the center.

The center can be a lighter shade than the petals and the entire design can be added with the nail polish brush. You may need to have a friend help you out if you can only paint with your dominant hand. Salons will perform this flower creation for you for somewhere between 5 and 10 dollars.

Putting texture onto nails is another technique that is easy and quick. An attractive and fun texture is the swirl. Paint the nails a nice bright color, then take a toothpick and dip it into a white or cream colored polish. After you have a small blob on the toothpick, place a few drops onto the wet finger nail and swirl the two colors together. If this is very thick it will take some time to dry, so be careful when using your hands during this time. It's best to sit still until they are completely cured.

Decals, rhinestones, and piercings are some other add-ons available for fingernails. They can be placed on top of freshly painted nails for that little bit of extra shine. Rhinestones are often attached to the fingernail with a special type of glue, made especially for fingernails.

There are two types of decals that can be added to fingernails; decals that use water to stick them on and ones that require rubbing. Both of them are on a sheet of paper that has many other decals on it.

The decal of choice is cut out of the paper and placed on the nail, decal side down. The back of the decal is then either wetted or rubbed, depending on the method needed. After this process, the paper is removed and the decal is stuck into place on the fingernail.

Piercings on fingernails are placed at the tips of the nails, not through the entire finger. The hardest part about nail piercings is to remember they are in and to not get them tangled in hair or sweaters. Nail art designs can be changed for the season, the occasion, or just depending on what you are feeling that day. There's no limit to what can be done with fingernails and all the fabulous accessories out there.
