Cystic Acne Treatment - Effective Solutions

By Peter Skonctue

More than likely, the word acne has crossed your ears at least once, maybe even twice. But what about cystic acne? It is a more advanced form of acne, and with advancement comes increased severity. These are boils that exist on the face, and if you are unable to do something about it quickly then you are going to be in quite a bit of pain.

Right now there are studies being carried out regarding the elusive causes of cystic acne. Right now however, the tests show that it is an outbreak of human hormones. These hormones interact with oil glands in the skin, causing them to produce an excess of oil.

After that the oil glands will begin to swell. As they swell, they will begin to harden beneath the skin of the face.

The oil glands are in an inflamed and infected state; they are painful and red. This is the severe form of cystic acne, which shows up as red lesions under the skin.

It's somewhat hard to actually treat cystic acne, though a dermatologist might be able to help you. He or she will tell you to use pharmaceutical drugs such as Isotretinoin, or even antibiotics that will fight your infection.

It may be very tempting to squeeze the cystic acne, to get rid of all the extra infectious matter present in it, as well as get some relief from the pain and pressure. However, this is the most futile thing you can do. Not only are you going to be left with a scar, but you will have this acne condition flaring up into an even more severe form. Squeezed cysts are more painful and they take longer to heal.

The treatment for this will mean that you won't be able to use moisturizers or even heavy makeup, at least not where the infection is. If you use a chemical based makeup, then you'll definitely end up with a serious problem. If you exfoliate the skin, then you will reduce the dead cells, but you still need to be careful with rubbing those infected spots. Make sure you use warm water, and perhaps an antiseptic soap.

Make sure that you avoid going into the sun during this time. Cystic acne is prone to burn under the hot sun. You definitely don't want to have a sunburn to compliment your cystic acne! If you do need to go into the sun, then make sure that you cover your infected areas with cucumber juice to keep them moisturized.

If you wish, you can go for a more natural treatment, and it is extremely effective. What you will want to do is wash the face and effected areas of course with a mixture of one teaspoon of buttermilk, honey, as well as turmeric in two parts white gram flour.

This is a great way of ridding yourself of the cysts. In addition that it is the best exfoliating agent that you can use, at least among the natural ones.
